Goal: Mobile Performance
I wanted to add depth to scenes (like empty windows or light portals) without the cost of heavy volumetric lighting. The target platforms were mobile and VR, so efficiency was paramount.
VFX Graph Implementation
Moving away from Shuriken, I utilized the new VFX Graph system. The system uses a maximum of 10 particles at a time to maintain high performance.
I exposed key properties for easy customization:
- Particle Size
- Effect Bounds
- Color (to match scene lighting)
- Lifetime
